A public consultation has been launched today for plans to build 400 homes on land next to Coldharbour Road.

Joint developers Bovis Homes and Persimmon Homes have published proposals for the land in Northfleet, allocated for development in the Gravesham Local Plan Core Strategy.

A planning application will be submitted before the end of the year. The scheme also includes three play areas.

Details regarding the location of buildings, design and scale will be revealed at a later stage.

The plot sits across the road from the Toby Carvery and goes back as far as the grounds of St George's C of E School.

Graeme Humphrey from Bovis Homes said: “We are committed to consulting and communicating closely with the community as we look to take these plans forward.

"There has already been significant consultation carried out by Gravesham Borough Council on this site and this has been recognised by the fact that the land at Coldharbour Road, including this site, has been allocated foraround 500 homes in the Local Plan Core Strategy.

"The forthcoming planning application will cover land controlled by Bovis Homes and Persimmon Homes and it will be the first stage in bringing this site forward."

Hamish Buttle from Persimmon Homes added: "This forthcoming planning application seeks to establish matters of principle in relation to the site and further details will emerge over the coming months.

"We will continue to consult with the local community and key stakeholders and I look forward to hearing the views of the community in order to evolve our proposals moving forward.”

Leaflets have been posted to nearby residents and a website for the project has been created.
