Hundreds of people headed for Gravesend Rugby Club at the weekend to help raise funds for a girl with a rare form of cancer.

Stacey Mowle, seven, of Trafalgar Road, Gravesend, suffers from neuroblastoma and her family want to send her to America for specialist treatment and need to raise £500,000.

Stacey’s story has captured the hearts of people across North Kent and the Conga 4 Stacey fun day at the club was one of many events run by generous supporters, including family friend Steve Nash, from Vigo, who organised the day.

He said: “I’d just like to say thanks to those who helped. We had about 1,000 people throughout the day.”

Organisers were attempting to break the record for the longest conga chain. Other attractions included Abba and Take That tribute acts, an Elvis impersonator, the Black Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, dance and cheerleading performances.

There was also a Mowle’s Market made up of 40 stalls, as well as a barbecue, hog roast and cake stalls.

Also in attendance was Stacey’s very own purple-tights-wearing superhero – Stace Man.
The masked avenger refuses to reveal his true identity, but could be spotted in Gravesend, Dartford and Bluewater last week.

A Stacey Mowle Appeal single, available on iTunes for 79p, was also launched. Family and friends are hoping to get the single into the charts.
