Pictures show woman arrested in Market Street, Gravesend, on suspicion of drug driving

Dramatic pictures show the moment a suspected drug driver was arrested by more than half a dozen police officers.

The images reveal how cops forced the woman to the floor as they put her in handcuffs.

Police were called to Market Street, Gravesend, at around 5.30pm yesterday.

The woman, who is in her 30s, was pulled from a vehicle and handcuffed.

She was detained on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving without insurance, as well as drug driving.

An eye-witness, who wants to remain anonymous, said: "I thought the treatment of the woman was quite harsh.

"When the police officer had arrested her, he came over to me and tried to seize my camera by quoting a terrorist law, that I'm not allowed to take photos.

"I am perfectly allowed because I was taking photos in a public place."

In all, 10 officers were pictured at the scene, as well as six Kent Police vehicles.

The woman remains in custody while inquiries continue.
