Northfleet driver killed on A2 Watling Street in Strood had 'excessive alcohol' in system

A man had "excessive alcohol" in his system before dying in a car crash, an inquest has heard.

Mandeep Singh Halaith died when his Mercedes C220 overturned at the Three Crutches roundabout on the A2 Watling Street, Strood, in February.

Assistant coroner Katrina Hepburn heard Mr Halaith was self employed and lived in Northfleet.

The opening heard Mr Halaith died from traumatic brain injury, caused by extensive skull and facial bone fractures.

Reading evidence from a post-mortem report, Ms Hepburn told the hearing the crash was due to "excessive alcohol consumption."

A full inquest is expected to take place in August.
