Ebbsfleet boss Liam Daish says even though his side have moved out of the Blue Square Premier relegation zone he will not pay any attention to the table until his side have reeled in more teams.

Despite seeing a three-game winning streak ended by a 1-0 home defeat to Histon on Tuesday night, Fleet’s run of 21 points from 13 games has seen them race out of the relegation zone and up to 18th.

Fleet looked doomed earlier in the season but despite the defeat to Histon – their sixth defeat in a row against the Stutes – Daish, pictured, says his side have given themselves a good chance to get out of trouble.

However, the table has yet to form a firm relegation picture with several teams having games in hand over the teams around them and fifth-bottom Barrow having seven games in hand over Fleet, who lie two places above them.

Daish said: "I’m not looking at the table at the moment. We just need to keep winning and picking up points.

"I know there are teams around us have got games in hand but we’ve been in that position last year and need to put pressure on the teams to win those games. It is not easy."

He added: "Three wins on the spin have given us a fighting chance but there is still lots of work to be done. We have pulled things around but there is still a long way to go."

Saturday’s 2-1 win at crisis-club Chester was Fleet’s third in a row and briefly took them within six points of Tuesday’s opponents.

Daish said: "A few weeks ago you would have said Histon were out of sight, now they are right in our sights. We have to keep fighting to claw teams back into reach."

It was just the second game in 14 in which Fleet had failed to score – the run coming on the back of an 11-game stretch in which they netted just one goal.

Title-chasing York City visit Stonebridge Road on Saturday and Daish says it will give his players the chance to measure how far they have come in recent weeks.

He said: "York keep grinding out 1-0 wins. I saw them against Histon last week and they have got some firepower. It will be difficult but hopefully we can go in with some confidence."
