An elderly woman remains in hospital after being seriously injured in a suspected hit and run.
The pedestrian, who is believed to be in her 70s, was taken to a London hospital with a head injury after being hit by a car in Harmer Street, Gravesend, at around 12.30pm yesterday.
Police have said this morning that she is in a stable condition, but officers are still appealing for people who saw the car in the moments leading up to the collision to come forward.
The red two-door Hyundai stopped on a pedestrian crossing near the junction with The Terrace, with visible damage to the windscreen.
Multiple eyewitnesses claimed to have seen three people run from the vehicle.
The incident brought Gravesend town centre to a standstill for much of the afternoon, with vehicles being diverted up Church Street and the air ambulance landing nearby.
Harmer Street was not re-opened until 6pm.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police on 01622 798538, quoting reference AW/MS/186/17.
