Emergency crews rescue man from railway bridge

Fire crews helped rescue a distressed man from the "wrong side" of a railway bridge.

Two Thames-side fire crews went to the aid of the police who had hold of the man, thought to be in his 50s, on the Windmill Street bridge in Gravesend.

Crew manager Ray Kilbourne said: "We don't know how to got there. We assisted the police. Two crews attended.

"We used some lines - some rope which we tied round him. We used safety access equipment. We assisted the police in retrieving the man."
