Firefighters put out Gravesend garden rubbish fire in Cobham street

Rubbish on fire in a back garden resulted in a casualty being treated for breathing in smoke.

Firefighters were called to a property in Cobham Street, Gravesend, at 5.43pm yesterday.

Two fire engines were sent and crews wore breathing apparatus as they tackled the blaze.

One person had to be checked over after breathing in smoke and was passed into the care of ambulance service medics.

A property nearby was affected by smoke logging and heat damage.

The firefighters left by 6.19pm.

The cause of the fire was believed to have been accidental.
