A motorist clocked travelling at almost 100mph along the A2 has been slapped with a fine.

Police in an unmarked car spotted the zippy lime green Ford Fiesta careering down the busy stretch of the motorway towards Gravesend this morning.

The force told how the driver was issued with a fine after being stopped shortly after 8.30am.

A spokesman said: "The vehicle overtook our unmarked car and the average speed was recorded at 95mph.

"The driver was stopped and reported on the roadside. Ticket issued."
