A father has warned others to be vigilant after her daughter's hair was 'set on fire' by youngsters.

The girl was at Woodlands Park, in Wrotham Road, Gravesend, on Wednesday when a young boy allegedly ran up behind her and set fire to her hair with a lighter.

Police are currently investigating the incident.

The father took to Facebook to air her concerns and warn others parents of what had happened.

He added: "She is okay and didn't get hurt, but is mortified about her hair.

Police spokesman James Walker said: "We received a report that a boy singed a girl’s hair with a lighter in Woodlands Park at around 5.20pm on Wednesday April 10.

"Initial inquiries are underway."

Residents last year labelled the park a 'no-go zone' due to an increase in violence and organised fighting.
