Bobby Garland clinched the Kent UKBC welterweight title at the Air & Breathe nightclub on Sunday.

The Gravesend-based boxer, from the Star Kickboxing gym, stopped his previously unbeaten opponent with a flurry of punches in the second round.

South London’s Billy Bresnahan had no answer to Garland (pictured) and, moments after he had received an eight-count, the referee was forced to step in and end the contest.

Instructor Leigh Haworth, who has been running the club in Lower Shorne for seven years along with his brother Paul, was delighted by their man’s performance.

"We are pleased with him," said Haworth, as Garland took his record to 5-0.

"He is doing remarkably well and since he has come to us, he has really taken off.

"He is incredibly fast, accurate and super fit."
