Georgia-Mae Fenton, from Gravesend, shortlisted for BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award

Commonwealth gold medalist Georgia-Mae Fenton has been shortlisted for BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award.

The 17-year-old, from Gravesend, is joined by nine other sport stars, including Fulham footballer Ryan Sessengon and tennis star Jack Draper, for the prestigious prize.

She won her gold medal during the Commonwealth games in April down under in Australia.

The winner will be announced at the Radio 1 Teen Awards on Sunday, October 21.

If Fenton wins she will follow in the foot steps of the likes of Wayne Rooney, Ellie Simmonds and Tom Daley.
