Gravesend Grammar School doubled up as an unofficial West Ham supporters’ club as students and staff banded together for an epic non-uniform day effort for Jack Howard.
Hartley lad Jack, 12, is a Year 8 student at the school but is in Los Angeles receiving potentially life-saving treatment for a second bout of kidney cancer.
His grammar school classmates and teachers contributed to the fund by raising a whopping £6,400, with plenty choosing to wear the famous claret and blue.
Angela Purdy, of the school’s student support department, said: “We as a school regularly do non-uniform days for various charities and we wanted to do one for Jack. We pushed it really hard to make it our biggest one ever.
“Jack is one of us and we want him back in school and the boys didn’t disappoint.”
