Major hotel chain Radisson has struck a deal to open a luxury 430 room hotel on the site of Swanscombe's stalled major theme park resort.

A Radisson Blu hotel will be built on the site of the 535-acre London Resort on the Swanscombe peninsula between Dartford and Gravesend.

The project has been billed as 'Britain's answer to Disneyland' and is scheduled for completion by 2024.

It will be one of the biggest entertainment resorts in Europe and includes a theme park, water park, cinema, theatre, hotels, restaurants and retail outlets.

The future of the theme park resort had looked uncertain after Hollywood film studios, Paramount Pictures previously backed away from an image rights deal to lend its famous brand names to rides.

The resort has since re-ignited its partnership with Paramount and struck deals with both the BBC and ITV.

Guests at the hotel will be able to unwind from an adrenaline-fuelled day of rollercoasters and rides and relax at the hotels' bar or make use of the spa facilities.

PY Gerbeau, the newly appointed CEO of the resort said: “Radisson Hotel Group’s commitment to the resort represents a significant milestone and is testimony to the absolute conviction the team has to deliver this project. "Radisson Hotel Group will be bringing films and characters to life in what will be an unforgettable hotel experience and will complement the incredible experiences and attractions Paramount Studios will also be bringing to the resort.”

The London Resort will be located just a short distance from Ebbsfleet International, allowing visitors to travel to London in just 20 minutes or hop on the Eurostar to Paris or Brussels.
