TESTS are to be carried out on human bones discovered by workers clearing branches in a Kent wood.

Boots and socks were also found near the bones in Horton Wood at West Kingsdown, near the Brands Hatch racing circuit.

Police were called to the wood on at about 9.30am on Wednesday after the workmen reported their finding.

Crime scene investigators later confirmed the bones were human. Further detailed tests are being conducted to determine whether or not there are any suspicious circumstances. A forensic anthropologist and other experts are also being consulted.

Meanwhile officers are searching the area around where the bones were discovered to look for any other clues that may help police identify the remains.
