Police Taser and arrest man in Gravesend town centre and seize knives

A man was Tasered and arrested after allegedly wielding two large knives outside a town centre pub.

Officers were called to the premises in King Street, Gravesend, and seized two weapons from a man who was reportedly acting aggressively.

He was arrested after refusing to drop the knives, officers said, who used a Taser to detain him.

It happened at 11.10pm on August 21.

Matthew Young, of Wellington Street, Gravesend, was charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place.

The 45-year-old was bailed to appear at Medway Magistrates' Court on September 22.

In a tweet, Kent Police Gravesham said: "Another example of the risks officers face each day to keep the public safe."
