A stretch of train line has reopened this morning after workers managed to clear a landslip which had blocked the tracks.

Heavy rain caused earth and stone to tumble onto the railway at Greenhithe yesterday morning - resulting in cancellations between Dartford and Gravesend.

But following extensive work overnight by Network Rail, the route has now reopened.

The landslip has been dug out and a temporary wall made of bags full of stone has been installed to shore up the bank.

Southeastern and Thameslink train services between Dartford and Gravesend are running as normal. being held due to a landslip at Greenhithe for Bluewater.

In a tweet, Network Rail thanked passengers for their patience on a "difficult day".
