Thousands of new homes have been released as part of the latest phase of a garden city development.

A new primary school and new village centre will be built alongside the 2,600 homes at the Ashmere community in Ebbsfleet Garden City.

The neighbourhood set in the former Eastern Quarry in Ebbsfleet will see the new homes set against the backdrop of white cliffs.

The new housing will be available on mixed tenures including 25% available through affordable housing schemes.

It will also feature a country park, a lake and new green spaces to buyers still able to reach London within 20 minutes.

The development between Latimer – the development wing of affordable housing provider Clarion – and Countryside is expected to be finished in 2033.

The initial wave of housing was launched off-plan in spring and the first residents are expected to move in within the coming weeks.

Developers secured permission for an additional 235 new homes for the second phase of the Ashmere neighbourhood earlier this year which will feature further affordable homes, more green space, village green, landscaping and play area.

Andrew Usher, managing director for South London Countryside, said: “We look forward to welcoming buyers to Ashmere now that the new marketing suite and show homes are open, allowing us to showcase the product our team has been tirelessly working on since the development broke ground.

"As more people become aware of the benefits of living close to nature, and competition for homes in desirable locations is fiercer than ever, there couldn’t have been a better time to bring this development to the market.”

Paul Walker, national sales director at Clarion Housing Group, said: “Working with Countryside, it’s been exciting to bring our vision for Ashmere to life and we’re looking forward to welcoming prospective buyers through the doors of our new show home.

"With high-quality, affordable homes at its heart, Ashmere is set to become a sought after place to live and work, with excellent connectivity and amenities coupled with access to green spaces.”
