Liam Daish wants to take Ebbsfleet back to the Blue Square Bet Premier at the first attempt after admitting relegation still hurts him a year on.

The Fleet boss (pictured) says he was let down about the circumstances surrounding the club’s demotion last season, following the loss of points due to Chester’s demise and wants to right the wrong quickly.

He said: "I felt let down the way it happened and was handled. I took it badly and didn’t think we should have gone down and went into this season determined to rub out that negative.

"I do take things personally, that’s just me, but it gave me that little bit of drive forward. I have instilled that in the players, that I wanted to take the club back into Conference Premier."

Fleet boast the best away record in the league as they prepare to face Farnborough in the Blue Square Bet South play-off final on Sunday (3pm kick-off).

Daish said: "I am glad we are in the final. The lads are looking forward to it.

"The boys were first class on Sunday and they started off exactly the same way we finished the first leg."

Keeper Preston Edwards failed a late fitness test before Sunday’s game meaning that Gillingham loanee Daren Hawkes got another chance. Daish is hoping that defender Derek Duncan recovers from an ankle problem.
