A public meeting to discuss the Lower Thames Crossing will be held next week.

Gravesham MP Adam Holloway is behind May as Prime Minister.

Lobby group abridge2far.co.uk is opposed to the Lower Thames Crossing being built to the east of Gravesend across the marshes and has arranged a public meeting in conjunction with Gravesham MP Adam Holloway (pictured right).

People will be able to find out what the situation is so far, air their views, and discuss the next step should the Department for Transport decide to put the crossing there.

The meeting will be held at Shorne Village Hall in The Street, Shorne, at 7pm on Thursday, October 17.

Chas Reilly, from abridge2far, said: “Alternative options will be presented, as organisers do appreciate that action has to be taken. They will clearly show that viable solutions are available without spending in excess of £5000 million.”

Mr Holloway will update people on his recent meeting with the Secretary of State for Transport.

Mr Holloway said: “If by some bizarre urge to splurge money and ruin this area they do end up selecting our countryside, we will have a hell of a fight on our hands.

“At the meeting I would like to discuss what our strategy might be, and to get the contact details of as many people as possible living locally on whom we can draw for support.

“If you are unable to attend the meeting, please email me your contact details at hollowaya@parliament.uk so that we can keep you informed if we end up in a fight.”
