The Little Shop newsagents damaged after ram-raid in Sole Street, Cobham

The front of a village newsagents has been almost completely destroyed following a ram-raid.

Thieves are thought to have used a vehicle to smash into The Little Shop on Sole Street, Cobham, near Gravesend.

The Little Shop, in Sole Street, Cobham, Gravesend, was ram-raided last night (19877482)

The wall, window and door were shattered after the attempted break-in.

Police spokesman Jo Pattison said: "We were called at around 11.45pm on Monday to reports a vehicle had collided with a shop in Sole Street.

"Officers attended the scene of an attempted break-in. Following a search, a Toyota 4x4 was recovered in Exedown Road, Sevenoaks.

"There have been no arrests at this stage and inquiries are ongoing."

One woman commented: "What can we do as a village community to help the owners? They do so much for us."

While another added: "Thought I heard a car screeching and a loud bang last night."

A fundraising page was been set up by residents to raise £500 for the owners Doug and Renna, however, the pair asked that any money donating be given to charity.
