A 33-year-old man and his pet dog have been found dead in a black Peugeot on the A228 Grain Road near Strood.

It is believed Martin Baker, of Alexandra Road, Gravesend, and his Rottweiler were found by a passing lorry driver. A spokesman for Medway police said: "We are not treating the death as suspicious."

A passing motorist, who did not want to be named, said: "I saw the police and a paramedic vehicle on the scene but I couldn't get very close."

Police were called to the scene at about 7.46am yesterday. An inquest will be opened on Friday.
