Simon Hawkins of St James’ Avenue in Gravesend charged with assault and criminal damage after incident at Lloyds Bank

A man has been charged with assault after a disturbance forced a town centre bank to close.

Simon Hawkins, 29, of St James’ Avenue in Gravesend, has been charged with two counts of common assault and one count of criminal damage following the incident in Lloyds Bank in New Road, Gravesend, on Thursday afternoon.

Hawkins has been bailed to attend Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, May 11.

A Lloyds Bank spokesman said last week: “We can confirm there was an incident at the Gravesend New Road branch earlier today and police are currently investigating."

The branch was closed Thursday afternoon but re-opened on Saturday after Friday's Bank Holiday closure.
