An inquest has opened into the death of a 22-year-old man killed in a motorbike crash.

Kieran Ingram passed away at the scene in Park Pale, Shorne, which runs next to the M2 near Junction 1 between Strood and Gravesend.

The incident happened earlier this month and police said a silver Yamaha motorbike was the only vehicle involved.

An inquest into Kieran's death opened at County Hall, Maidstone, this morning.

Assistant coroner Alan Blunson heard how Kieran, who resided in New Road, Cliffe was involved in a "single vehicle road traffic collision" in Park Pale on Wednesday, June 8.

The 22-year-old arrived at the scene with another person who owned the Yamaha bike.

Kieran was riding the vehicle along the road towards the services at the end when he "lost control and collided with the kerb", the inquest heard.

He "suffered serious injuries to his head" and the circumstances of his death were ruled as "following a road traffic collision".

A full inquest has been scheduled for November 24 at County Hall.

Since the incident tributes have flooded in on social media. Mum Charlotte Ingram said: "Our hearts were shattered when our beautiful boy was involved in a horrific motorbike accident.

"Kieran was only 22 but lived life to full, he wasn’t a biker but he always loved a thrill which is probably the reason he was on the bike."

She also heaped praised on the medics who attended to her son.

"On that day all of the emergency services were outstanding and we will never be able to thank them enough for what they did for our son," she said.

"We were able to say goodbye before he passed and that is only because of their hard work.

"Everything they did was with kindness and compassion there will never be enough words."

The family has set up a fundraising page for the air ambulance charity and at the time of writing it had raised almost £3,000. You can donate here.

Floral tributes were left at the scene of the crash with written tributes.

"Our hearts are broken, fly high sweetheart", read one, while another said "too soon, too young sweetheart."
