A man accused of vandalising 11 cars in a street has gone on trial.

Richard Somosu is alleged to have run a blade down the bodywork of the cars in Truro Road in Gravesend on March 6 this year.

A jury at Maidstone Crown Court heard witnesses saw the 29-year-old committing the damage and gave a description of him.

Prosecutor Steven Mould said one of the victims, Tim Multon, whose VW Sharn was damaged, confronted Somosu and asked what he was doing.

“He has an interaction with him,” said Mr Mould.

“He sees him with what he describes as a blade or knife.”

Another victim, Dacbir Panasar, whose Vauxhall Corsa was vandalised, said she saw Somosu going down a footpath and into a house in Truro Road.

Police officers arrived at about 10.20pm and went to the house and found him there.

They also found clothing which matched the description given by witnesses.

After his arrest Somosu gave a no comment interview.

He is also accused of damaging a Jeep Renegade owned by Kelly Downding, a Peugeot 208 owned by Caroline Mahoney, a Nissan Note owned by Patricia Ngorie, a Toyota, Vauxhall Corsa and a Nissan Note owned by Michael Adekoya, a Vauxhall Corsa owned by Chiwira Goodmore and a Nissan Navara owned by Robbie Millwood.

Somosu, of Irvine Road, Higham, denies having a bladed article and 11 charges of damaging property.
