A MAN has died after a road accident in a Kent town in the early hours of Friday morning.

The crash happened in Old Road East, at the junction with Valley Drive, Gravesend, at around 12.30am.

Police say a white LDV Van appears to have crashed into a wall in the road.

Ambulance crews from Medway, Northfleet and Dartford worked with firefighters to free the 34-year-old man, who was a passenger in the van. He was trapped in the vehicle for around 30 minutes.

He had suffered a serious head injury and was pronounced dead on arrival at Darent Valley Hospital.

The 27-year-old male driver of the van was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

The road was closed until 3.45am.

Kent Police is appealing for witnesses to contact its serious crash investigation unit on 01622 798538.
