Man knifed in street fight

A MAN was injured during a street fight in Gravesend. He suffered superficial knife lacerations to his ankle and to the back of his neck.

The fight happened on the junction of Pine Avenue and Old Road East at around 10pm on Saturday.

Jean Allen, 73, of Old Road East, said: "I was woken up about 10pm by the police sirens. There was a big group of youths standing on the grass verge at the end of Pine Avenue. One had his head in his hands and was obviously very upset. The police were there until about 11.30pm."

A police spokesperson confirmed that an incident had happened and that they were investigating. They had received reports of a fight between two men - one wielding a knife.
