Teenager charged with robbery after man threatened with knife in Harmer Street, Gravesend

A teenager has been charged with robbery after a man was threatened with a knife.

The man, who is in his 20s, was socialising in Gravesend town centre on Monday when he met a group of people he did not know.

He went with them to a location near Harmer Street where it is alleged he was threatened with a knife.

The victim surrendered his phone which was reported to have been used to transfer cash from his bank account, before it was returned.

Officers arrested a teenager the following day. They also seized 21 wraps of suspected heroin and cocaine.

Darryl Carpenter was later charged with robbery, possession of a knife in a public place, possession of cocaine with intent to supply and possession of heroin with intent to supply.

The 19-year-old, of no fixed address, appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court yesterday.

He was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on March 23.
