A 44-year-old man has been stabbed in the stomach in Gravesend.

Kent Police was called at 12.50pm to a report of an assault in Gloucester Road, Gravesend.

Officers were joined by ambulance crews and the air ambulance landed in a nearby playing field.

The incident is thought to have taken place at the victim’s home in Gloucester Road.

Sandra Chandler, who lives next door to the victim’s home, said: “I heard a loud banging sound – I didn’t know where it came from so thought nothing on it.

“It was all a bit shocking really. This is a really nice road to live on. All the people are lovely and you just don’t expect it here.

“I saw three police cars and a forensics van turn up. I just hope that he’s okay.”

The victim, who is from Gravesend, was airlifted to King's College Hospital for treatment.

His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Officers are investigating the attack and no arrests have yet been made.
