Council members have been told to reject a proposal to add a drive-thru to a 30-year-old McDonald's restaurant.
The fast food chain's site in Greenhithe, which opened in 1988, submitted an application at the beginning of the year in January.
To make room for the new addition, the restaurant planned to rearrange the car park - from 35 spaces to 31 - and move the cycle lanes.
They sought permission from Dartford Borough Council to add a drive-thru lane onto the premises.
It has been recommended to refuse the application on the grounds it could cause a "significant detrimental impact on the character and appearance of the area".
Council officers also said it would create a "cluttered and urbanised" appearance to the nearby St Mary's Church.
The McDonald's building, which dates back to the 1700s, was previously a pub, known as the The Railway Hotel.
It sits on the junction between St Clements Way and London Road.
The application will be discussed at a council meeting with the Development Control Board on Thursday, October 11.
