Men charged after alleged mass brawl and arson in Dering Way, Gravesend

A group of men have been charged with an array of offences after cars were allegedly set alight during a mass brawl in the street.

Two cars were destroyed in the incident in Dering Way, Gravesend earlier this month which also saw the police helicopter deployed.

Four people have now been charged.

The fight broke out at about 6.10pm on May 12 and police were called to the disturbance in the Denton area of the town.

Now, four men will appear at Maidstone Crown Court next month.

Alfie Burdett-McKenna, 20, from Gun Lane, Strood, has been charged with arson, violent disorder and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

Tommy Eastwood, also 20, of Dering Way, Gravesend, has been charged with arson and violent disorder.

Matthew Shoebridge, 26, of Dering Way, Gravesend, has been charged with violent disorder and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

Lee Aldous, 29, from Packham Road, Northfleet, has been charged with violent disorder and criminal damage.

They all appeared before magistrates in Medway via video link and will next appear at crown court on June 11.

Eastwood, Shoebridge and Aldous have been granted bail. Burdett-McKenna was remanded in custody until the hearing.
