Traffic stopped after multi-vehicle crash on coastbound A2 near Ebbsfleet

A multi-vehicle crash resulted in huge rush-hour delays on the A2.

The accident happened on the coastbound carriageway at Ebbsfleet this afternoon.

National Highways advised drivers to avoid the area.

It tweeted: "Traffic is stopped on the #A2 eastbound between the #A2260 and #B262 near #Ebbsfleet due to a multi vehicle collision.

"@kent_police are on scene.

"There are 4 miles of congestion on approach leading back past the #M25 J2.

"Plan ahead and avoid the area if possible."

At 6.15pm, it tweeted to say all lanes had reopened but there were still delays of about 45 minutes and several miles of congestion.
