Two fire engines and multiple police cars were in attendance from around 7pm till 11pm with fire crews forcing entrance to the boarded-up area of Clifton Slipways.

The Gravesend RNLI lifeboat attended to the east of Clifton Slipways Pier in front of Russell Quay and was joined by the Port of London Authority’s cutter boat, Leader, from the Tilbury side of the river.

Police said the missing person was later found safe near Baltic Wharf and “was placed in the care of their family”.
