A heartbroken mum has spoken of her anguish after her 17-year-old son died just hours after spending the perfect Mother's Day together.

Corinne Cooter, 45, and her husband Mark, 51, fought back tears as they spoke of their "loving son" Rob, who was tragically killed in a car crash on the A227 in Meopham, late on Sunday evening.

The devastated parents revealed how the considerate 17-year-old, of Sun Lane, Gravesend, had lovingly cooked a family meal with his sister Jennifer, 20, on Mother's Day before he drove off to visit a friend in Meopham.

Tragically, those perfect few hours together were to be the last the family would share with Rob, who they described as: "The best son and brother we could ever hope for."

As the North West Kent College pupil made his way home to the family he adored, the silver Vauxhall Corsa he was driving left the road, hit a telegraph pole and overturned - just yards from where teenager Jack Mitchell, 17, was seriously injured in a car crash weeks before.

Emergency services rushed to Rob's aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

In an exclusive interview with The Messenger his parents spoke of their heartache since losing their "lovely boy".
