When you see her blowing bubbles or playing pirates, you might not believe that not long ago Sarah Dalton was a high flying manager of a designer brand.

Mrs Dalton worked long hours and travelled the country as an area manager for French Connection (FCUK) for years, but after the birth of her first child Jesse, she decided to make a life change.

The 33-year-old won the franchise for Baby Sensory in north west Kent, packed in her high pressure job and hasn’t looked back since. Husband Steve also runs his own business in the motor industry.

Baby Sensory has more than 400 franchisees across the country and is designed to stimulate babies up to 13 months and help them learn.

Three years in, and now a mum-of-two with a one-year-old called Isla, Mrs Dalton runs 13 classes a week across Meopham, Stone, Gravesend and Dartford.

Mrs Dalton, of Ediva Road, Meopham, said: “I’d never worked with babies or children before, but it just shows you should trust yourself and when it comes to your kids you can make it happen.

“Jesse went to the clubs and the lady running it was selling the business. I just looked at it and thought ‘I could do this’ and I decided to change my life completely.

“I wanted to do something where I could still see be around my children. FCUK had a big restructure while I was on maternity leave and when I returned it was all too much. I feel like fate came at the right time.

“It’s not just interacting with children, a lot of the parents who come to us are craving a bit of adult conversation themselves; the classes are as much for the parents as the babies.”

Although there aren’t designated qualifications for the role Mrs Dalton went on a year’s training programme, with book learning and mentors to show her the ropes.

The classes are run in five-week terms and babies usually stay with the classes for a year, doing something different every week. They learn while having fun being pirates, splashing around in water, doing baby Olympics, and other activities.
