Party on the Prom may be gone but the Gravesham Riverside Festival is set to be bigger and better.

It will cover the entire riverside leisure area – the Prom, Fort Gardens and Gordon Gardens – with plenty of entertainment for the new-look extravaganza.

On the main stage, tribute act winner Killer Queen will headline the live entertainment.

Also on the bill is record producer, musician and songwriter Angrej Ali, accompanied by Nick Sahota and Sunny Hayre.

Elsewhere, there will be three big tops, with one featuring circus skills and performances.

In Fort Gardens, there will be an Arty Party with lots to do including performances
and workshops with Galley Beggar, Rock-a-Hillies, Balalaika, poetry recitals, music on the bandstand, kite-making, Punch & Judy, face-painting, Monica’s Makers Market and an artists’ village.

Team Kaizen will be mixing dance performances with drop-in workshops for all ages and abilities at Fort Gardens.

Also appearing on the main stage is local band, The Tonics, winners of our kmfm competition Perform At Gravesham Riverside Festival.

Andy Walker, kmfm deputy programme manager, said: “It’s always nice to offer local singers and bands from Kent the opportunity to perform at a huge event like the Gravesham Riverside Festival.

“Congratulations to The Tonics. They are performing in not only their home county but home town as well, so I imagine they will be have a blast.

“Thank you to everyone who entered this competition after hearing about it on kmfm.”

The Let’s Recycle Together group in the Gordon Gardens will provide a fusion of creative fun and recycling for the whole family with creative art workshops by Emergency Exit Arts throughout the day.

Bin Bot – made from wheelie bins – will lead parades around the prom during the day and there will be a traditional funfair on the recreation ground.

Melanie Norris, director of communities at the council, said: “This year we have tried to make the Riverside Festival orientated around family fun.

“The day will finish a little earlier than in previous years and there is much more to do for the whole family with workshops and lots of exciting surprises and a great programme of entertainment. There is even a pop-up tea room.”

The festival, which is in partnership with Cohesion Plus, is on Saturday, July 19, and runs from noon until 6.45pm.
