Pair charged with drug offences and false imprisonment after alleged cuckooing of a property in Poplar Avenue, Gravesend

Two teenagers have been charged with drug offences and false imprisonment following the alleged cuckooing of a property in Gravesend.

Cuckooing is when the home of a vulnerable person is taken over as a base for people involving in supplying illegal substances who commonly use intimidation, bullying and violence to maintain control.

Police went to a property in Poplar Avenue, Gravesend, on Tuesday afternoon of last week and arrested three people. Crack cocaine, heroin and associated drug equipment was also seized.

Raymond Olabode, 18, of Anvil Terrace, Dartford, and Chelsea Richardson, 19, of no fixed address, have since been charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

They are also both accused of the false imprisonment of the alleged cuckooing victim and have been bailed by magistrates to appear at Woolwich Crown Court on Thursday, November 2.

A 19-year-old man was also arrested but has been released pending further inquiries.
