Assistant boss Paul McCarthy says Ebbsfleet fans will be vital as the club bids to end their slump against fellow strugglers Kidderminster on Saturday.

Fleet have slipped to second-bottom of Blue Square Bet Premier after a run of one win in 11 games which culminated in Saturday's 3-1 reverse at Stockport.

McCarthy (pictured) was in charge at Edgeley Park in the absence of Liam Daish, who had suffered a family bereavment and McCarthy admitted: "Confidence isn't exactly sky-high at the moment."

"What we need is for everyone to rally together at a time like this. The players, staff and supporters.

"The supporters are important. We need them to get behind us on Saturday and give us some confidence. It's not just the cup finals and big games where you need them, we need them now more than ever."

"We are 12 games into the season and in the bottom four. It's not easy when you are down where we are in the table. There are a lot of nerves at the minute, things are not going our way," he added.

"If the ground is quiet and the supporters are anxious then it transfers to the players. We need them to get behind us. We just need a win, any kind of a win, and we can move on from there."
