A pensioner has been treated for smoke inhalation after leaving his chips in the microwave.

The man, in his 70s, left his fries cooking in the microwave unattended and only realised something was wrong when his fire alarm went off.

Firefighters from Thames-Side Station were called to the incident in Codrington Crescent, Gravesend, at 7.30pm on yesterday.
