Plea after pensioner is mugged in street

POLICE in North Kent are appealing for information following an incident in which a 73-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed.

The victim was walking along Edwin Street at Gravesend when a man attempted to grab her handbag. She held onto her bag but the offender then pushed her over.

He grabbed the chain from around her neck and then ran off. He is described as a black man of slim build.

The incident happened on September 21 at about 5.20pm. The victim has been contacted by the North Kent Community Liaison Officer to offer advice and support.
