Police called to Regents Court, Gravesend, to reports of a distressed man

Multiple police cars were called to a distressed man by a block of flats.

At least six officers were sent to Regents Court, in West Street, Gravesend, last night.

They attended along with the ambulance service, at around 6pm, to deal with the situation.

Police officers had to subdue the man at the Regents Court flats in West Street, Gravesend. (5327053)

One witness who lives on the street said: "I saw six police officers subduing a young man in the car park.

"Another man came over to try and assist police but he was told to go away.

"The young man that was arrested looked extremely distressed and was shouting for around ten minutes."

South East Coast Ambulance service took the man away after the incident. (5327051)

Police spokesman James Walker said: "Officers attended the scene alongside crews from SECAmb and the man has been left in the care of health care professionals."
