Police seized multiple bikes and issued warnings to off-road bikers over the weekend.

Gravesend's community policing team, assisted by the rural task force and Kent special constabulary, targeted a number of people in the borough for anti-social behaviour after members of the public raised concerns.

In total, seven section 59 warnings given to people riding bikes inappropriately at various locations, including Mark Lane and Woodlands Lane, Shorne, on Saturday and Sunday.

It means that if they are found re-offending within the next year they risk having their bikes seized.

At around 8pm on Saturday a 27-year-old man from Swanscombe was arrested on suspicion of making off without paying for fuel from a station in Milton Road, Gravesend.

The same man was also arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a stolen moped and driving without insurance.

He has been released pending further inquiries, which include trying to find the moped's owner.

A second bike was seized in Canal Street, Higham, on Sunday, which is believed to have been stolen from a Gravesend address in March.

Inspector Craig West said: "A very small minority of people choose to take part in anti-social behaviour but their actions have a disproportionate impact on the wider community.

"Such behaviour is unacceptable and we are committed to targeting those who choose to become a nuisance to other people.

"It is really important that anyone affected by anti-social behaviour makes their concerns known to us so we can build an accurate picture on the issue and target suspects.
