Whoever mans the doors at one Kent pub had a bit of a mare when the resident pony managed to sneak in through the back door.

Mocha made his way inside The Ascot Arms in Central Avenue, Gravesend to escape the afternoon sunshine on Monday, but was denied an alcoholic refreshment.

Not that he listened to the neighsayers, with one member of staff saying he seemed determined to sample some apple cider.

Mocha is likely to be one of the star attractions at the pub's upcoming line-up of summer events, which get underway in just a few weeks.

Saturday August 13 sees the pub play host to an international dance festival from 1pm, and plenty of family fun is promised during a fundraising event the following day. It's set to feature live music, stalls, bungee jumping, a barbecue, and more.
