Railway lines are now open again after a landslip between two train stations left commuters facing rush-hour delays.

Services between Gravesend and Rainham were cancelled this evening due to the disruption.

At around 4pm a landslip prevented trains from travelling from Strood toward Gravesend.

Lines later reopened at around 7.15pm.

A Southeastern spokesman said: "Lines have reopened following a landslip and an earlier fault with the signalling system between Ebbsfleet International and Gravesend.

"A landslip at Gravesend blocked the line from Rochester to Gravesend towards London St Pancras International.

"The line has reopened with a speed restriction past the affected area.

"Whilst services return to normal, trains may be cancelled or delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised."

Disruption is expected until the end of the day although services are now able to run normally.

Replacement buses will be running between Gravesend and Rochester.
