Two waste and recycling collection vehicles have been decorated with rainbows to thank all key workers for their efforts during the coronavirus pandemic.

The lorries cover most of Gravesend, and children and adults across the borough are being encouraged to give the crews a wave when they spot them, take pictures of the vehicles and share them on social media.

Gravesham council leader Cllr John Burden, said: "Our waste and recycling crews have been touched by the amount of support they have received from the public since the coronavirus lockdown came into force.

“They wanted to share that love with all the other key workers we know live and work in the borough and who are doing such amazing work in very difficult circumstances.

“We would love to see pictures of the vehicles out and about around Gravesham, but please do make sure that while taking them you are observing all the current coronavirus guidelines, including maintaining social distancing.”
