A road was closed for hours after a "serious accident" involving two vehicles.

Thong Lane, in Gravesend, was reported closed shortly before 2.30pm.

It was said to be shut in both directions from Halfpence Lane, just off the A2, due to a "serious accident" involving two vehicles.

Police confirmed the road closure. A spokesman for Kent Police said: "We was called at 2.13pm on Saturday to a two vehicle collision in Thong Lane, Shorne.

"No serious injuries were reported however the incident did cause the road to become partially blocked and officers enforced a temporary closure to allow for debris to be safely removed."

After receiving confirmation that recovery of the vehicles had been arranged, the scene was left in the care of Kent Highways.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service did not attend, a spokesman confirmed.
