Gravesend runner Amber Henry was all smiles after completing the Virtual London Marathon in memory of her dad this weekend.

Running the marathon had been a long-held ambition of both her and her dad Kevin - who died after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in his mid 40s.

While her dad sadly never got to realise the ambition, Amber did it for both of them when she completed the 26.2 mile course in 6 hours 35 minutes and 11 seconds - despite having to run it around the streets of Gravesend instead of the capital.

"It wasn’t the London Marathon that I’d anticipated running," she said, "but I was still surrounded by friends and family cheering me on, running and walking alongside me which kept my spirits high! It was tough to keep going through the wind and the rain but, the struggles of the race made it feel that bit sweeter once I’d completed the 26.2 miles!

"The virtual London marathon, marks just half my running journey as I’ll be running the real London Marathon next October but for now I’m very proud of myself for going the distance and raising money for Lymphoma Action! It’s been a huge highlight for 2020!"
