Sainsbury's in Pepper Hill, Gravesend, closed due to flooding

A Sainsbury's store has been shut due to flooding.

Pictures were captured just before 9am this morning of the flooding at the Pepper Hill branch, in Gravesend

Sainsburys in Pepper Hill has experienced flooding this morning

Rich Kemp, who was in the store when it started to flood at 8.55am said: "The store was not really prepared for the weather, the rain was torrential but the staff handled the situation very well."

He said the store was closed and customers were told to finish their purchases.

Sainsburys in Pepper Hill has shut due to flooding

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: "Our Pepper Hill superstore is open as usual after it was temporarily closed this morning due to flooding. We are pleased to welcome customers back and are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused."
