Schools have been rewarded for their dedication in teaching youngsters to become eco-friendly.
Riverview Infants was named Best Nature Conservation School and Shears Green Infant School picked up the Best Environmental Award for Gravesham district.
The Green School Awards recognised schemes in the county’s schools that promote green travel to school, recycling and sustainability, nature conservation and energy conservation.
Simon Dolby, chief executive of the KM Charity Team which oversees the scheme, said: “We have seen some great environmental initiatives that are inspiring and empowering pupils to strive for a better future for their communities.”
Winning schools demonstrated best practice in teaching students about the environment and encouraging them to adopt eco-friendly initiatives. Pupils, teachers and parents from infant, primary and secondary schools were invited to the award presentation event at Canterbury Cricket Club.
Ideas from all the winning schemes will be published in a best practice booklet and circulated to participating schools. It will also be available to download here http://www.kmcharityteam.co.uk/schools/green-school-awards/.
