Stars shine in The High Street

The High Street in Gravesend deserves to have its own soap opera with all the characters that live and work around the Gravesend Messenger office.

Today it seemed the TV dream had become reality.

Idly looking into the shop windows was the biggest villain of them all.

Dirty Den was there, being closely pursued by Pc Tony Stamp as they headed through the Heritage Quarter to the waterfront for a snack.

And trailing close behind was PC Walsh, one of the bobbies from Last of the Summer Wine played by Louis Emerick.

Covering their tail was one of the male pin-ups from Hollyoaks, Lee Otway, who played Bombhead for several years until he ran away to join the circus.

The quartet were on a quick visit ahead of their appearance at The Woodville in Gravesend.

Appropriately enough they are in Soap Opera, which runs from September 12 to 15.

That's got tired old soaps, new producers, and a TV crew right on the edge.

Sounds familiar?
